For the pass processing of high-speed steel rolls used in wire and bar mills, especially the cutting processing of rolling threaded steel rolls during repeated use, due to intermittent cutting, the processing is more difficult, so reasonable processing tools and The amount of cutting is a prerequisite for determining whether the high-speed steel roll can be used normally on-line or on the bar mill.
For high-speed steel rolls, whether it is turning off the pass or milling of thread grooves, it is very difficult, and the processing time is 3 to 4 times that of alloy cast iron rolls. Therefore, it is recommended to use integral polycrystalline cubic boron nitride cutters when grooving high-speed steel rolls. Both in terms of technology and tool performance, they are superior to imported cubic boron nitride cutters, and the synthesis technology of domestic integral polycrystalline cubic boron nitride cutters Very mature and stable in performance, it has been widely used in various heavy-duty cutting fields, such as rolls, slurry pumps, crushers, and other industries.
For high-speed steel rolls, two overall polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tool grades are recommended, namely BN-S20 and BN-S10. Their processing fields overlap, but BN-S10 is more suitable for processing super high-speed cutting tools with HRC63 and above. High-hardness composite high-speed steel rolls.
The BN-S20 brand overall polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tool has excellent high-temperature resistance and impact resistance toughness, which can realize large margin cutting and improve production efficiency. Rough and fine machining with one knife can complete the machining process.
The BN-S10 overall polycrystalline cubic boron nitride cutting tool can be said to be an enhanced version of the BN-S20 brand, which is more suitable for processing heavy-duty cutting with ultra-high hardness above HRC63. The ideal cutting tool for slotting/turning has been exported to developed countries in Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea on behalf of “Made in China”.
The range of cutting parameters for grooved high-speed steel rolls with integral polycrystalline cubic boron nitride cutters
Different processes and different machining allowances have different cutting parameters.
Rough machining process: the cutting speed (Vc) is controlled between 50-150m/min, the feed rate (Fr) is controlled between 0.1-0.5mm/r, and the cutting depth (ap) is between 1-10mm.
Finishing process: mainly to ensure its dimensional accuracy and surface finish, so the cutting speed (Vc) is controlled between 90-250m/min, the feed rate (Fr) is controlled between 0.05-0.35mm/r, and the cutting depth ( ap) ≤ 1mm.
Precautions for the use of integral polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tools
(1) BN-S20 grades and BN-S10 grades are processed by dry cutting during the grooving process of high-speed steel rolls, and it is forbidden to add cutting fluid;
(2) BN-S20 grades and BN-S10 grades can withstand intermittent cutting, so they can be processed directly without reducing the cutting parameters in case of intermittent cutting;
(3) The tool holders equipped with BN-S20 and BN-S10 grades are professional hardened tools, which are not compatible with ordinary hard alloy cutter holders. If it is not convenient to purchase cutter holders, the supplier can provide a good tool pole.
